Orthodox

2016-08 / Saint Petersburg, Russia

The orthodox churches in Russia are something I could never tire of. To me, they encapsulate the country itself. Whenever I thought of Russia, these churches always came to mind. They still do, but now I've actually seen a few in person. The cemeteries you find on the grounds of orthodox churches will be the most well kempt you'll see in Russia. Otherwise, they tend to let nature take over. Those "natural" cemeteries are my favourite in the world. This is the Chapel of St. Xenia. I know this because I just looked it up to label this photograph. Before this moment, I was unsure of the title of this church. However, I had a list of cathedrals I wanted to visit during my stay in Saint-Petersburg and this was on that list. Until this exact moment, I thought I had an incomplete list and that I'd never see the lovely St. Xenia. Funny how things work out isn't it?
